Ned Lamont’s recent appointments of Beth Bye and Terry Gerratana to key positions in the Governor’s administration have created openings in the 5th and 6th Districts of the Connecticut State Senate. Special elections will be held later this winter on a date to be determined (possibly Tuesday, February 26th or Tuesday, March 5th).

The front-runner for the Democratic nomination in the 5th Senate District is Derek Slap, current Connecticut State Representative for the 19th District, which includes a portion of Farmington and all of West Hartford.

Connecticut’s 5th Senate District is comprised of a most of Farmington, all of West Hartford and Burlington and a portion of Bloomfield.

The front-runner for the Democratic nomination in the 6th Senate District is Rick Lopes, Connecticut State Representative for the 24th District, serving all of New Britain and a portion of Newington.

Connecticut’s 6th Senate District is comprised of a portion of Farmington, all of New Britain and Berlin.
