For the past 16 years, Judge Evelyn Daly has served on the Farmington Regional Probate Court, which currently includes the towns of Burlington, Farmington and, since 2019, Plainville. Her expert, competent service makes her the best candidate for re-election as Probate Judge for this expanded court.
As Probate Judge, Evelyn oversees a wide variety of legal matters, including trusts and estates as well as psychiatric matters such as commitments, conservatorships, guardianships, compromise of claims, and termination of parental rights. Judge Daly also serves as The Administrative Judge for the Hartford Regional Children’s Probate Court which serves 27 municipalities.
Highly respected by her colleagues, Evelyn was unanimously elected President of the Connecticut Probate Assembly this past January. Evelyn is very proud of the internship program she established at the Farmington Regional Probate Court in 2007. This work has benefited more than 60 students, including international law students from Ireland and Spain.
Judge Daly began her legal career in Boston at the law firm of Choate, Hall, and Stewart. After moving to Connecticut, she clerked in Waterbury Superior Court and then joined Aetna Life and Casualty as Senior Counsel. Prior to her present Judgeship, Evelyn served as Counsel to the Speaker of The House of Representatives at Connecticut’s General Assembly.
Judge Daly is involved in many civic and charitable organizations. She was a docent at Hill-Stead museum for over 20 years and still occasionally gives tours. She is a Rotarian, past Board President of the Stanley Whitman House, and a member of the Armenian Assembly of America. She was also inducted into The Swifts Inn.
Evelyn resides in Farmington with her husband, Magistrate Michael C. Daly. Their son, J. Mac Daly was recently married to Kayla O’Leary Daly and both are engaged in the Practice of law at Hartford law firms. Evelyn is a doting doggie grandparent to their exuberant Bernedoodle, Maple. When she can find the time, you might see Judge Daly biking, rollerblading, or jogging (very slowly) around the area.
Judge Daly looks forward to her continued service to the Farmington Regional Probate Court, a role she sees as critical to so many individuals and families during times that are often stressful and difficult. With her solid expertise and warm, friendly, and calm demeanor, Judge Daly provides stellar public service, and is a tremendous asset to the communities she serves.
Judge Evelyn Daly will be on the ballot for the upcoming election on Tuesday, November 8th.
