Andrea Sobinski – Bio:
A proud resident since 2010, parent leader, community volunteer, local businesswoman, and seasoned social worker, Andrea Sobinski sees and hears Farmington from a variety of perspectives. She believes the path to progress is led not by those who talk the most or the loudest, but instead by listening and seeking to find common ground. Farmington needs a leader who will listen to its residents and ensure that all voices are heard and equally represented. Andrea is committed to working collaboratively, with community members and local officials, to advance educational opportunities for all students in our district, and to maintain Farmington’s high quality of education.
Andrea’s personal and professional experiences have taught her the importance of fostering positive relationships and offering open, accessible and transparent communication with all interested parties. Identifying what is important to you, proposing solutions and effecting positive change are among her valuable skills honed over years of engagement in the schools and community. Andrea is passionate about creating a brighter future for our community and putting the needs of Farmington’s students and families first!
Andrea has served as PTO Co-President and Secretary at Noah Wallace School, and been a member of the Principal’s Student Development Council, Superintendent’s Parent Leadership Forum, and Farmington Future as well as team manager for Farmington Soccer Club travel teams. She has 20 years of experience as a clinical social worker in the private and public sectors, including the public schools, and in 2014, embarked on a career as a realtor. Andrea earned a master’s degree from the UCONN School of Social Work and a bachelor’s degree from Fairfield University.
Andrea is married to Sohrab, a physician who divides his time between our state’s corrections system and his private practice in Farmington, the mother of Cole and Caitlin, who attend Farmington Public Schools and Austin, an energetic bulldog/boxer mix. In her free time, Andrea enjoys running local 5Ks with her family and is often found on the fields at Tunxis Mead, cheering on her children’s soccer team.
