Privacy policy

How the FDTC handles information shared through our website, email updates and linked services.

The Farmington Democratic Town Committee (“FDTC”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we may receive through our website and how we use it.

Political disclaimer

Information we may receive

You may choose to provide your name, email address, phone number, mailing address or volunteer interests when you contact the FDTC, sign up for committee emails, volunteer, RSVP or submit a form.

Committee email updates are distributed through Mailchimp. The FDTC website also links to Anedot for online contributions and event RSVPs. Those services may collect and process information under their own privacy policies. Online payment details are entered with Anedot; the FDTC website does not ask you to enter a payment card number directly.

The website host may receive technical information such as browser or device data when you visit. Third-party websites linked from our site may use their own cookies or collect information under their own policies.

How we use information

We use information you provide to respond to you, send committee updates you requested, coordinate volunteer activities, manage event sign-ups and share relevant local election information.

When information may be shared

The FDTC does not sell or rent personal information. We may share information with service providers that help us operate committee communications, event sign-ups or contribution processing, and when required by law.

We share contact information with a candidate campaign or another political organization only when you ask us to make a connection or when the sign-up or activity explains that information will be shared for that purpose.

Campaign finance records

If you contribute to the FDTC, Connecticut campaign finance laws require the committee treasurer to collect and report certain contributor information. For individual contributions, the committee generally must report a contributor’s name, address, employer and contribution details once contributions exceed $50 in the aggregate during a calendar year. Principal occupation is reported when aggregate contributions exceed $100, to the extent known. Required campaign finance reports are public records.

Your choices

You can stop receiving committee emails by using the unsubscribe link in an email or contacting us. If you provided information for a specific event or volunteer activity, contact us with questions about that information.

Data security

The FDTC takes reasonable steps to safeguard information it maintains. No method of transmitting or storing information online can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in committee practices or applicable law. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
