Accountability
Public officials who respond to residents, explain their priorities and take responsibility for their decisions.
About the FDTC
The Farmington Democratic Town Committee is the Democratic Party’s local organization for Farmington and Unionville.
Who we are
Connecticut Democratic Party rules identify town committees as the Party’s organizational bodies at the local level. The FDTC recruits and supports Democratic candidates, organizes volunteers, provides voting information, holds events and identifies residents interested in public service.
Our work is grounded in three commitments: accountability, community and transparency.

Our community story
The history of this place begins with the Tunxis people along the Farmington River. Farmington was incorporated in 1645 and later became known as Connecticut’s “Mother Town.”
In the nineteenth century, Farmington’s abolitionist community supported people escaping slavery and welcomed the Mendi survivors of the Amistad case. Unionville’s village identity developed through water-powered industry, immigration and community institutions.
Today, Farmington and Unionville continue to preserve their distinct histories while responding to the needs of people at every stage of life. The FDTC participates in that broader civic tradition through local organizing, elections and public service.

What we do
National and state issues matter, but the town committee’s central responsibility is local: Farmington’s elections, boards and commissions, schools, neighborhoods and voters.
Residents can receive updates, attend events, volunteer, join the Town Committee or express interest in public service.
